This year electronic and paper forms are both on track and on time, but there is one tricky thing to keep track of. How you file (on paper or electronic) will effect your due date.
Electronic (also known as e-filed) forms and taxes will be due Tuesday September 3rd, 2013.
Paper forms and taxes must be postmarked Saturday August 31st, 2013.
The IRS has canceled the Scheduled shut down originally Scheduled for Monday July 22. The IRS will be open, issuing Stamped Schedule 1’s and answering phones.
The Original IRS announcement earlier this month regarding the due date of the 2012 2290 Tax Form has been updated. Initially, the IRS planned to shut down the e-file system at Noon Eastern Time and they weren’t sure when e-file would re-open.
The filing period of Form 2290 for the 2012 / 2013 tax year officially opened on July 1st this year, but that doesn’t mean all is back to normal. 2290Tax learned about an upcoming IRS computer shut down that means truckers need to file their 2012 tax forms no later than August 30th. The Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax is back on track! There will be no delay this year.
Under current law, Form 2290 Heavy Use Tax filing ends after September 30, 2011. The IRS has issued a temporary regulation that postpones to November 30, 2011 the due date to file Form 2290 Heavy Use Tax for the period beginning July 1, 2011 for vehicles used during the months of July, August, and September, 2011.
There may be some delays in the opening of the 2011/2012 annual filing season for Tax Form 2290. The IRS has not yet published the final 2011/2012 Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Return, nor are they accepting paper or e-filings at this time.
Form 2290 for 2011 – 2012 – usually due August 31 – is now due on November 30, 2011. The current IRS heavy highway vehicle use tax Form 2290 is currently scheduled to expire on September 30, 2011.
